he VDSA end of year picnic is an annually recurring fixture in the VDSA calendar, an opportunity for VDSA members to get together with friends, families and new Australians to reflect on the year’s activities and enjoy a day in the park.
2017
Another gorgeous day in the sun, with a fabulous turn out of VDSA members and friends of the association. In what has by now become tradition, catering was abundant and varied, and aromas from around the world filled the air with their perfume.
2016
The weather was perfect, the food delicious, the atmosphere relaxed, our veggie garden looked its best, we couldn’t have asked for more!
More than 60 people attended the picnic, members of VDSA with their families and friends and at least 15 refugees (Tamil and Rohingas) and representatives of sister Associations including FILEF, Giovanni XXIII, Marrickville Youth Resource Centre (with apologies from IAWA).
Thanks to all who were able to make it!
A special thank you goes to all those who made this event possible:
Ismail, Rosi, Jill, Ann, Pia who tended with great care to our veggie garden.
Alison, Nicoletta, Paola, Ann and Charity who have kept in contact with refugee friends now living in the community and invited them to attend the picnic and everyone who brought delicious Italian, Australian, Sri Lankan, Burmese dishes, it was a feast!
